The Singapore Quantum Ecosystem's New Collaboration with Quantinuum

Singapore’s national quantum ambitions reached an important milestone with the announcement of a new partnership between Quantinuum and the National Quantum Office (NQO). As part of this collaboration, NSCC Singapore will host Helios, Quantinuum’s latest quantum computer, adding a powerful new capability to Singapore’s research landscape and strengthening the nation’s push toward quantum-enabled innovation.

While quantum computing is still an emerging field, its potential in areas such as materials science, healthcare, finance, cybersecurity, and advanced optimisation is well recognised. Early access to infrastructure and hands-on opportunities will help Singapore accelerate capability-building and strengthen its position in the global quantum ecosystem.

Helios will be deployed by the National Quantum Computing Hub (NQCH), a joint effort by NSCC Singapore, Agency for Science, Technology and Research’s Institute of High Performance Computing (A*STAR IHPC), and the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT). Through NQCH, Singapore is already driving the development of quantum applications across key strategic domains, and the partnership with Quantinuum marks a significant step in deepening technical expertise and expanding R&D pathways. Hosting a commercial quantum system locally enables researchers, students, start-ups, and industry partners to experiment and validate use cases directly in Singapore—supporting faster learning and a more quantum-ready workforce.

For NSCC Singapore, this collaboration reinforces our role as a national research infrastructure and strategic enabler. Alongside our ASPIRE 2A and ASPIRE 2A+ supercomputers, Helios opens opportunities to explore the convergence of hybrid HPC and quantum technologies—an emerging frontier that will shape next-generation simulation, optimisation, and AI workloads.
