User Enablement and Training: June 2026 Technical Workshops

As supercomputing infrastructure becomes increasingly powerful and more complex, it is crucial for researchers to be equipped with both foundational and advanced skills to effectively harness this compute power.

This month, NSCC conducted the ASPIRE 2A Introductory Workshop and the ASPIRE 2A+ Advanced Workshop on Parallel Programming Models.

The ASPIRE 2A Introductory Workshop provided participants with a practical introduction to the system, covering onboarding procedures, system access and fundamental HPC operations. Through hand-on exercises, gained experience in carrying out essential tasks—including transferring files, compiling programs and submitting job requests—researchers were equipped with the critical skills needed to fully leverage compute resources right from the start.

Building on these fundamentals, the ASPIRE 2A+ Advanced Workshop introduced participants to the architecture and capabilities of the ASPIRE 2A+ system, with a focus on optimising application performance. The workshop explored parallel programming using OpenMP, MPI and CUDA, alongside techniques for supporting AI and Large Language Model (LLM) workloads, enabling users to make more effective use of advanced HPC resources.
