The 2nd ACM Asian School on High Performance Computing (HPC) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), held in Kobe, Japan, has concluded successfully, continuing the momentum established by the inaugural edition held in Singapore in 2025. This year’s school was sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), together with ACM SIGHPC and RIKEN R-CCS.
The ACM Asian School is designed to provide an accessible yet rigorous entry point into HPC and AI for talented researchers across diverse scientific disciplines. Through structured lectures, technical discussions, and hands-on exposure, participants gain a clearer understanding of how advanced computing and AI methodologies can accelerate, scale, and transform their domain research.
The successful run of the Kobe edition highlights the value of sustained regional collaboration in HPC education. Each edition strengthens networks among researchers, educators, and institutions across Asia, contributing to a growing pipeline of researchers equipped to leverage supercomputing resources and integrate AI-driven approaches into their work.
The 3rd ACM Asian School on HPC and AI is scheduled to be held in Singapore in 2027 and is expected to run concurrently with SupercomputingAsia 2027 (SCA2027) conference. This helps create a synergistic platform that brings together education, research and industry engagement in a week of keynotes, workshops, tutorials, paper presentations, invited sessions and an exhibition for the global HPC community.
More details on the 2027 School will be released in August 2026. In the meantime, interested students and researchers may refer to previous programmes (2025, 2026) to better understand the curriculum and learning experience.
