This month, NSCC Singapore wrapped up the year’s final advanced ASPIRE 2A workshop with a hands-on workshop dedicated to one of the most critical skills in high performance computing: profiling and debugging at scale.

Participants were introduced to a range of commonly used profiling and debugging tools, with an emphasis on real-world application scenarios. With guided demonstrations, users learned how to interpret performance reports, optimise memory access, detect memory leaks, and resolve workload imbalances. The workshop also covered practical debugging approaches across Python, C, C++ and Fortran, alongside techniques for resolving GPU application crashes and performing GPU profiling using MAP—skills that users can immediately apply to their own production workloads.

By the end of the session, participants walked away with a clearer, more structured approach to profiling and debugging, empowering them to troubleshoot issues more effectively and make better use of national HPC resources.

As the final training session of the year, this workshop closes out a year of sustained user enablement and talent development across Singapore’s HPC community. With research demands becoming increasingly complex and compute-intensive, NSCC Singapore remains committed to expanding its training programmes and learning opportunities—supporting users as they run workloads on ASPIRE 2A, ASPIRE 2A+, and future national supercomputing platforms.
