Introduction
The National Supercomputing Centre (NSCC) Singapore is the nation’s Peta-scale computing facility for academic and industrial R&D. It has been formally designated as a National Research Infrastructure (NRI) funded by the National Research Foundation (NRF) to provide high-performance computing (HPC) resources to all Institutions of Higher Learning (IHLs) and research entities in government and industry. With its supercomputing infrastructure distributed across the island, NSCC intends to enhance its cybersecurity through a programme which includes protecting the inter-DC communications with quantum-safe network technologies and data encryption. It has completed a preliminary feasibility study of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) network channel on its optical fibre data link. It is now moving to the next stage of Request for Information (RFI) from interested parties to propose solutions and technologies that will enable Quantum-safe Network between (1) NSCC’s DCs and supercomputing nodes and (2) end-user sites.
