Dr Terence Hung
Chief of Future Intelligence Technologies | Rolls-Royce
Terence is the Chief of Future Intelligence Technologies in Central Technology at Rolls-Royce. He leads a team to develop new capabilities in Artificial Intelligence to transform the way they do engineering and improve the quality of their services and products. Terence also drives the corporate lab AI research activities at the Nanyang Technological University as a programme co-director.
He has 26 years of R&D and technology management experiences in diverse computational and digital fields, with an established track record in formulating, championing and executing new concepts/programmes and building teams. He has led and collaborated in funded research programmes totalling more than S$40M.
Terence was invited to consult and advise in various government, industry and academia programmes. An adjunct professor at the Nanyang Technological University, he also served on the Microsoft’s international Technical Computing Executive Advisory Council, Singapore Maritime Institute Technology Advisory Panel, Singapore’s National Cloud Computing Advisory Council, the National Supercomputing Centre Steering Committee, and NTU Renaissance Engineering Programme Advisory Committee. In 2018, Terence was approached by the Infocomm Media Development Agency to help formulate her Services & Digital Economy Technology Roadmap. Throughout his career, he has shared his experiences in numerous events such as invited keynotes, industry forums, conferences, and STEM outreach.
Terence has been with Rolls-Royce for 5 years, during which he was winner of 2 Sir Henry Royce awards and runners-up in an Innovation Challenge for a visionary idea on AI-powered Digital Service Engineer. Some of the new ideas that he seeded had delivered productivity gain and more than US$30M of cost saving/avoidance for Rolls-Royce.
Prior to Rolls-Royce, Terence was the Deputy Executive Director at the Institute of High Performance Computing at AStar Singapore, and VP Technology at Commerce Exchange, a start-up offering e-commerce, e-financial and e-logistics solutions.
