  • Co-ordinate with other NSCC technical personnel to ensure smooth routine operations Exploring new technologies and convert them into sustainable HPC services for NSCC which may include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities

  • • Evaluate and ensure compliance of NSCC’s operations and processes to its IT security policies and practices.
  • • Plan, implement and operate security measures to protect systems and networks.
  • • Develop, implement and operate pro-active monitoring processes/systems on the internal environment of NSCC and its vast user community, producing timely and actionable intelligence.
  • • Advise NSCC management on the latest vulnerabilities and threats, and recommend mitigating or preventive measures accordingly.

    • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
    • Experience in supporting a research community and a supercomputing environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities

  • • Manage the maintenance and daily operations of the DC facilities with the objective of achieving uninterrupted availability at all times and to ensure the fulfilment of our service commitment to customers.
  • • Support service delivery to ensure contracted service level agreements and key performance indicators are met or exceeded. 
  • • Perform routine facilities activities including inventory control. Critical systems check and functional testing. Able to respond and take action in response to facilities crisis management activities including: power outages, fire alarms, HVAC outages. 
  • • Analyse data and identify trends with facility issues to determine root cause and take appropriate action.
  • • Respond to BMS/EMS alerts, investigate and feedback on any outstanding issues or events and respond to emergency situations and be on standby duty as required.
  • • Provide technical support to all aspects of data center operations including the operation, maintenance and repair of all mission critical equipment and systems. 
  • • Assist in all site construction activities and installations, in coordination with external contractors to ensure system design, installation and testing adhere to operational standards. Witness testing of all equipment during commissioning and validate sequence of operations and receipt of all operational documentation.
  • • Supports for customer installations, in coordination with the design & construction as well as operations requirements to coordinate customer move-in and turn-on, and other service request & deliveries.
  • • Maintain compliance with local workplace safety & health (WHS) standards and local electrical and building codes.
  • • Ensure adherence to all standard operating procedures (SOP), method of procedures (MOP), and emergency response procedures (ERP) established for the critical environments, as well as the formal change control process.
  • • Participate in the scheduling, coordination and completion all significant planned and emergency maintenance events for the facility and ensure these activities are executed in a controlled and proven method to ensure the reliability of the critical loads supported by these systems.
  • • Oversee a support team to help fulfil the above tasks.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • • Minimum 4 years’ relevant experience in Data Center Facilities Management & Operations environment and service delivery.
  • • Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognised institute.
    • Able to comprehend, analyse and interpret complex project documents, including AutoCAD, Visio and PDF documents.
  • • General technical and functional knowledge of data center infrastructure to include electrical and mechanical systems, fire detection and protection systems, building management systems, equipment maintenance, space planning, construction of critical facilities environments.
  •  CDCP, CDFOM certification greately preferred.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities

  • • Provide expert advice to on-board new users to NSCC’s systems which includes translating user requirements into optimal computational work plans and guiding new users to the system.
  • • Assist in the design of NSCC 2.0 systems, including benchmarking related workloads on various platforms and recommending the most suitable architecture for the scientific community.
  • • Engage with new researchers, communities and disciplines with data-intensive computing.
  • • The team leader will also be tasked with managing the team of HPC Application Analysts and Project Managers in helping to fulfill the above duties.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

General Requirements for All Three Positions

  • • A postgraduate qualification or significant progress towards postgraduate qualifications in a relevant scientific or computer-science discipline.
  • • Working experience in a supercomputer environment, including the use of schedulers and containers. System administration experience will be a plus though not essential.
  • • Demonstrated high-level problem solving skills. 
  • • Demonstrated effective communication skill including the ability to articulate technical concepts to a diverse range of clients.
  • • Demonstrated ability & willingness to contribute novel ideas and approaches in support of the research community.
  • • At least one published journal article or conference paper on an internationally recognised platform, and related to the field (please provide reference)
  • • To be considered for a senior position, the candidate should have at least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar position and environment, and multi-disciplinary experience will be an asset. Relevant project management skills or experience will also be an asset.
  • • To be considered for the team leader’s position, the candidate should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in a similar environment, and multi-disciplinary experience will be an asset. A PhD is preferred though not essential. Relevant project management skills or experience will also be an asset.

Specific Qualifications

Position 1 (Artificial Intelligence)

  • • Proven working knowledge of deep learning, machine learning and AI.
  • • Experience with AI frameworks (eg. TensorFlow and PyTorch) is essential.

Position 2 (Computational Fluid Dynamics)

  • • Proven working knowledge of CFD.
  • • Experience with one or more CFD or related software package (eg. OpenFOAM, WRF, etc.) is essential.

Position 3 (Quantum Chemistry / Molecular Dynamics)

  • • Proven working knowledge of QC/MD.
  • • Experience with one or more QC/MD or related software package (e.g. Amber, Gaussian, Gromacs, LAMMPS, Quantum Espresso, VASP, etc.) is essential.

  • • Competent in Microsoft Office.
  • • Well versed with IT technology.
